Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs To $225 Million.  The Mega Millions jackpot remains on the rise.The jackpot is now at $224 million after no winning tickets were sold for Tuesday night’s drawing. Tuesday’s winning numbers were 23-37-41-50-55, and the Mega Ball was 06There were no second-tier, $250,000 winners in Maryland Tuesday night.Mega Millions drawings air on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Powerball drawings air on Wednesdays and Saturdays, at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV 11.

Anne Arundel Community College Offering Midnight Class.  With enrollment surging at community colleges, Anne Arundel Community College is taking a novel approach: midnight classes.The college will offer a psychology class from midnight to 3 a.m. on Thursdays this fall. It’s being dubbed “Midnight Madness.”The class was dreamed up by Matt Yeazel, the head of the psychology department. He said introductory courses have been overflowing in recent semesters, so he settled on the new time slot as a way to reach more students.

O’Malley Kicks Off Campaign Swing. Gov. Martin O’Malley jumped full bore into re-election mode on Tuesday, saying Maryland needs to move forward by growing the middle class — not back to the ways of his political nemesis, former Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich. O’Malley, a Democrat, kicked off a three-day campaign swing in front of hundreds of supporters in the Fells Point neighborhood in Baltimore, with his wife and four children standing by him along with Sen. Barbara Mikulski, Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

Chesapeake Bay Grasses Increase 12%.  The Chesapeake Bay Program said underwater bay grasses increased 12 percent last year, another good sign that the bay is slowly improving. The program said that’s the highest level since 2002 and almost half its goal for the bay. The increase follows a recent report showing the bay’s crab population is rebounding. The program said the grass increase shows how the bay can respond to efforts such as sewage plant upgrades and farm runoff controls.
