O’Malley To Reveal Plan To triple MD Solar Energy. Gov. Martin O’Malley plans to visit a Howard County home to assist homeowners with installing solar panels.O’Malley aides said the governor will also announce plans to triple the amount of solar energy produced in Maryland at the Thursday event in honor of Earth Day.

Foster Parent Accused In Boy’s Sex Assault. A foster parent on the Eastern Shore has been accused of sexually assaulting a child. Police in Kent County said licensed foster parent Jerry Darnell Bartley sexually assaulted a boy multiple times in his home between 2009 and as recently as earlier this month.Bartley, who lives in Chestertown, is licensed through the Arrow Child and Family Ministries and the Faith and Deliverance Church.

MD Not Expected To Lose Teachers Over Summer. More than 100,000 schoolteachers could be out of work nationwide by the summer, but it appears that Maryland will be spared from the full effect of the budget crisis.Teacher layoffs are possible in Maryland, but nothing like the numbers seen from other states. Baltimore County said it is hoping to hire as many as 700 new teachers for next year. They’ll start signing contracts as early as next week.

Ravens Trade First Round Pick To Denver. The Baltimore Ravens opted for quantity in the first round of the NFL draft. While on the clock with the 25th overall pick Thursday night, the Ravens traded the 25th overall pick to the Denver Broncos for three selections later in the draft. Baltimore received picks in the second, third and fourth rounds – the 43rd, 70th and 114th selection overall. Prior to the draft, the Ravens traded their third- and fourth-round picks to Arizona Cardinals for wide receiver Anquan Boldin and a fifth-round selection. That, and a 2008 deal with Tampa Bay that landed defensive end Marques Douglas, left Baltimore with only five picks entering the draft.
