Dorothy Height, Civil Rights Activist, Dies At 98. Dorothy Irene Height, a pioneering voice of the civil rights movement whose activism stretched from the New Deal to the election of President Barack Obama, died Tuesday. She was 98. Height, who marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and led the National Council of Negro Women for 40 years, was known for her determination and grace — as well as her wry humor. She remained active and outspoken well into her 90s and often received rousing ovations at events around Washington, where she was easily recognizable in the bright, colorful hats she almost always wore.

$700K Multi-Match Ticket Sold In Dundalk. A winning ticket for Monday’s $700,000 Multi-Match drawing was sold in Dundalk, according to Maryland Lottery officials.  More than 529,000 Multi-Match tickets were sold for the drawing.The winning ticket was purchased at Sterling Liquors on German Hill Road. The winner hasn’t come forward.The Multi-Match jackpot starts at $500,000 and increases each time the jackpot isn’t won.

Anne Arundel Home Invasion Suspect Arrested. Authorities on Monday night took into custody a suspect in a violent home invasion in Crownsville.Michael Joseph May, 21, is accused of storming into a home in the area of Summer Hill Trailer Street early Sunday. Anne Arundel County police said two men and a woman were stabbed.A second culprit in the incident hasn’t been identified.May was taken into custody at a traffic stop at the intersection of Patapsco Avenue and Fourth Street in Baltimore city.

Ripken’s Return? Cal Ripken put out a statement on Monday that addressed recent reports on his future with the Orioles.On Saturday, Foxsports.com ran a story by Ken Rosenthal that claimed owner Peter Angelos didn’t want Ripken on the Orioles because he didn’t want the hall-of-famer to receive all of the credit if the team became successful. Ripken said on Monday that “Mr. Angelos never said that he didn’t want me to get credit for any success that the club might have. That’s just not true.”Ripken went on to say that he looks forward to conversations with Angelos on his future with the Orioles.
