Eastern Shore House Fire, Possible Homicide.  Maryland State Police are investigating a house fire and suspected homicide on the Eastern Shore.Crews were called to 310 Oxbow Drive in Stevensville at about 10 a.m. Thursday after getting reports about an assault and house fire. Police said they found 82-year-old Magda Scherer in a bedroom chair with blunt force trauma to the back of her head. She was taken out of the burning home and pronounced dead at the scene.

Official: Speed Camera Fines Not Enough To Cover Cost. The head of Maryland’s highway administration said speed cameras used throughout the state aren’t issuing enough fines to pay for the cost of operation.But State Highway Administrator Neil J. Pedersen said that it’s worth it to the state to pay additional money for the cameras if it means people are driving more carefully.Pedersen told reporters at a news conference Wednesday that police have noticed fewer crashes and that his employees and contractors have seen fewer vehicles going more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit in the work zones where the cameras are used.

Tanker Truck Overturns On Drawbridge. A tanker truck overturned Friday morning in Curtis Bay, a crash that left a rear portion of the truck dangling over the side of the bridge.The incident happened at about 5:30 a.m. on the Pennington Avenue drawbridge over Curtis Creek.Hazmat crews, along with Maryland Department of the Environment crews, responded to the scene. Officials told 11 News that the truck was empty, though some gas was reportedly leaked.

Burglary Suspect Says He Was Playing Hide-And-Seek. A burglary suspect came up with a creative explanation after he was found dangling from the ventilation system of a Maryland convenience store.He told police he was playing hide-and-seek.Cecil County sheriff’s deputies said the owner of a BP convenience store in North East was opening up Wednesday morning when he spotted a pair of feet dangling from a duct. Deputies responded and freed 20-year-old Shane Hall.
