Holds Off Planning & Zoning Until Court Or Voter Decision

County Executive John R. Leopold issued the following statement regarding the certification of signatures by the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections placing slot machines on the November ballot:

In response to the official certification by the Board of Elections, I have directed the County Department of Planning and Zoning to halt consideration of plans filed to build a slots facility at Arundel Mills, pending a decision by the court or the voters. I respect the democratic process and hope that in the interest of our citizens this issue is resolved expeditiously.

Anne Arundel County Executive, John R. Leopold
