Local Locksmith Charged With Bilking Customers

A County locksmith has been issued a cease and desist order from the Maryland Attorney General Division of Consumer Protection. Around The Clock Locksmith has been charged with several consumer protection violations.

The company, and it’s owner Joseph M. Horton of Pasadena, are accused of inflating prices and stealing the identity of a competitor as well as making false statements as to the company’s standing with the Better Business Bureau. One of the allegations states he charged $1400 to respond to a call for service and $4300 to replace locks. Calls to the company were not returned.

A hearing is scheduled for June 28, 2010 with the Consumer Protection Division where the Division will determine the penalties, restitution and the prospect of criminal charges.
