Cardinal Gibbons, 12 Other Schools To Close. Cardinal Gibbons High School in Baltimore and St. William of York School are two of 13 schools set to be closed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Group Rallies For Bill To Help Private Education. Hundreds of students rallied in Annapolis in support of legislation to help curb the tide of private school closures.The legislation would give Maryland businesses a 75 percent state tax credit for donations to organizations that support scholarships and other school programs.

Sloth Born At National Aquarium Rainforest. A sloth at the National Aquarium in Baltimore has given birth again. Aquarium officials said the sloth, named Rose, gave birth in late February in the aquarium’s rainforest exhibit, providing a sibling for brother Howie, who was born in 2008.

Same-Sex Marriage Pros, Cons Debated. As same-sex couples lined up in Washington, D.C., for marriage applications on Wednesday, crowds gathered in Annapolis to hear testimony in front of a Senate committee to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.The measure is considered a step toward recognizing same-sex marriage in Maryland.
