Elbert Gardner Faces 2 Life Sentences
On June 30th, a quiet Admiral Heights neighborhood was rocked with a double murder. This morning, the suspect, who admitted to the killings, pleaded guilty and is expected to receive two life terms.
Elbert Gardner Jr. will be back in court on March 19th where the State’s Attorney will seek two consecutive life sentences for the killings.
Gardner was living in the basement of a house he rented with his former girlfriend. When he heard his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend upstairs, he snapped, killing them both. Lei Tyree Johnson, 38, and Samuel Marshall Fowlkes, 49 were pronounced dead at the scene.
