Gansler: MD Could Recognize Same  Sex Marriages.  The state’s highest court likely would rule that legal gay marriages in other states are valid in Maryland, the state’s attorney general said Wednesday, noting the matter “is not free from all doubt.” Maryland law defines marriage as between a man and woman, but Attorney General Doug Gansler wrote that the state generally acknowledges couples married elsewhere.

Developer Sues Election Board Over Slots Petition.  Cordish Cos. is suing the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections, claiming that it is overlooking fraud in a petition drive aimed at blocking plans for a slots casino at Arundel Mills mall.The suit filed Tuesday by PPE Casino Resorts Maryland LLC, Baltimore-based Cordish’s parent company, asks for an injunction to stop the petition process for a referendum on whether the 4,750-machine casino should be allowed.

Sinkhole In Woman’s Yard Shows Underground Room.  All the snow from the blizzards in Maryland caused plenty of problems, but for one northeast Baltimore woman, things got out of control as a sinkhole formed in her back yard.When you look down into the sinkhole in Debra Pearson’s backyard, you can see concrete walls, pipes more than 12 inches in diameter and a metal ladder fixed to the wall.

Starved Boy’s Mom Believes He’ll Come Back To Life. The mother convicted in the case of a 1-year-old boy who was starved to death three years ago because he did not say “amen” testified Wednesday that she still believes the child will be resurrected. Ria Ramkissoon, 23, took the stand at the trial of Queen Antoinette, who’s accused of ordering that her son not be given food or water. Ramkissoon was living with Antoinette and several other people at the time as part of what authorities described as a religious cult.
