1 Dead In Annapolis Fire. Fire officials in Annapolis said one person died in an overnight two-alarm house fire.The fire occurred at about 12:50 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Bay Ridge Avenue in the Eastport area.Investigators said a man was found on the second floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The home is located across from the Eastport Fire Station. It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control.

Impact Of Dumping Snow In Harbor Minimal. Worried about the environmental impact of dumping all that snow into Baltimore’s Inner Harbor? Well don’t be too concerned, a water quality scientist with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation said. While road salt can raise the salinity of smaller streams and creeks, the bay is already salty and plowing the snow into the harbor shouldn’t have much of an effect.

Worker Crushed In Bobcat Accident. Baltimore County fire officials said a man was killed Thursday in an accident in which he was crushed by a Bobcat.Director of Public Information Elise Armacost said the incident happened shortly after noon at a Sunoco gas station in the 10000 block of Reisterstown Road.

Rescuers Try To Reach Stranded Motorists.  State officials said rescue workers have had to dig through 6- to 8-foot snowdrifts to reach more than two dozen vehicles stranded overnight on U.S. 340 in western Maryland. Frederick County Director of Emergency Preparedness Seamus Mooney said by noon Thursday they were down to 12 vehicles with people still in them. He said others walked home or got rides to their destinations.
