From BGE spokeswoman, Linda Foy:

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG), today announced it is making every effort to restore electric service to customers, but extremely challenging and unsafe driving conditions, including whiteout conditions in some instances, are significantly impacting BGE’s ability to respond to reported outages.

“We continue to respond to public safety outages including reports of downed wires, but each and every call presents unique challenges and we are evaluating each outage report on a case-by-case basis,” said A. Christopher Burton, senior vice president of gas and electric operations and planning for BGE. “While state and local road crews are doing a yeoman’s job of addressing road conditions, there are many roads which are simply impassable at this time. BGE has the necessary equipment and people in place along with the desire to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.  However, the heavy, blowing snow has made driving conditions extremely treacherous and places our employees at great risk. Rest assured, once conditions improve later this afternoon, we will be on the streets in force, aggressively working to restore power to all of our customers affected by this historic weather.  We thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”
