Annapolis Snow Plow Parts Stolen. Talk about bad timing.
Recreation and Parks Department officials in Maryland’s capital said part of snow removal equipment has been stolen, just as a monster storm is bearing down on the region. A parks maintenance worker told Annapolis police that the mechanism that lifts and maneuvers a snow plow blade was missing when he arrived for work Tuesday morning. On the ground next to the vehicle were the bolts that attach the mechanism to the truck.

MD Democrats File FCC Complaint Against Ehrlich. The Maryland Democratic Party is asking the Federal Communications Commission to investigate former Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich’s promotion of a slot machine license on television. Susan Turnbull, the party chairwoman, alleged Thursday that Ehrlich should not have promoted a slots license for the Cordish Co. on a television program last year without disclosing his firm was being paid by the company to advocate on its behalf.

Powerful Storm Bears Down On Region. A massive winter storm bore down on the Baltimore metro area on Friday, with as much as two feet of snow possible in some locations. Airlines canceled flights across the area, and school districts closed for the day ahead of heavy, wet snow forecast across Maryland into southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania.The National Weather Service has issued a warning stretching from Baltimore to northern Virginia and parts of West Virginia. The forecast calls for heavy snow with near-blizzard conditions. The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Teacher Charged With Pushing Elementary Student. Howard County police charged a fifth-grade teacher at Jeffers Hill Elementary School in Columbia with pushing a student in the classroom. Tracie Clay, 38, of Laurel, was charged with second-degree assault in the incident that involved an 11-year-old girl.Police said the girl told her mother that Clay verbally reprimanded her during class and then ordered her to leave the classroom. The girl said Clay pushed her in the back through the door into the school hallway.
