Held Under House Arrest At Parent’s Home

Lt. James Cifala, the Anne Arundel County police veteran will be released from federal custody today. He has been ordered to remain under house arrest in his parent’s home in Edgewater until trial and will be monitored around the clock. Cifala will be release as soon as the paperwork is complete to pledge his parent’s home as collateral.

During the hearing, the prosecution admitted that when they searched Cifala’s home, they did not find any additional child pornography in the home or on his computer. Anne Arundel County Police were notified of the investigation on January 14, 2010 and Cifala was arrested on January 22, 2010.

Cifala, 47, has been accused of sexting with a 16 year old girl which included sending nude photographs via a cell phone he provided to the girl. Since Cifala’s arrest, the girl has removed her social media accounts, withdrawn from school, changed her cell phone number, and moved from the area.
