A Humdinger This Weekend?

Weather Geek Forecast

These guys have been far more accurate than any of the weather guessers in the region this year! Some faith might best be put in their words prepare to hunker down this weekend for a 24″ + snowstorm!

Her’s what they have to say about tonight’s storm:

With liquid equivalent of approximately .25 inches and snow ratios at 12:1, this event should produce 2.5 inches of snow at BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport. Areas along and east of I-95: 3 inches by daybreak Wednesday. Areas north and west of BWI should see less than 2.5 inches. Snow should taper by 8 am west of the Chesapeake Bay and by 10 am on the eastern shore.  School delays are likely, especially for districts that border the Bay.

The team is processing potential for convective banding along counties that border the Chesapeake Bay. This may create a last minute fast pulse of accumulation early Wednesday morning, quickly adding another 1-2.”  We will re-investigate tonight.

So stay tuned to Eye On Annapolis for school closings! And as to the weekend storm, this might be the budget buster for every municipality in Maryland!

Using 16:1 as a guide, and 1.50″ as liquid midpoint, we believe this storm could equal or exceed 24″ in the Baltimore metropolitan area by daybreak Sunday. Note that several other computer models have amounts far higher.
