URGENT: Eye On Annapolis has made a donation to support the relief efforts in Haiti. Right now, money is the critical thing needed to get medical supplies and basic necessities to the people on the island. We have chosen to support Doctors Without Borders for this effort and encourage our readers to do the same. If not through Doctors Without Borders, but through a legitimate organization. Unfortunately scammers come out of the woodwork when disaster strikes. Here is a list (updated frequently) of organizations that have been vetted and are participating in the relief efforts. Even if it is only $5, please give. It could have been us!

2 Anne Arundel Children Among Quake Victims.  School officials said two children of an Anne Arundel County family are among the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Nine-year-old Moise Phillipe Larose and his sister, 11-year-old Willermine Deborah Larose, died in last week’s quake.The family was visiting Haiti for a funeral. Five siblings survived.The children’s father, U.S. Army Reserves Sgt. Moise Larose, is back at the family home in Fort Meade.The elder Larose said the whole floor of a building collapsed on the children. Their bodies, buried under rubble, have not been recovered.

17 Charged In Anne Arundel Drug Probe.  Authorities said 17 people have been charged in a drug sting that occurred over a three-day period.Officers conducted targeted enforcement of drug violations in the Severna Park, Pasadena, Glen Burnie and Annapolis areas from Jan. 13-15.The effort came after complaints were received from residents of those areas, police said.  (See Eye On Annapolis report)

O’Malley To Display Colts Flag On Car. A spokesman for Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said the crab cakes and Smith Island cake dessert are on their way to Indiana. That was one of the conditions of a bet made between O’Malley and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels over the playoff game between the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts, which the Ravens lost.O’Malley will also display a Colts flag on his car for the week, but it won’t be an Indianapolis Colts flag. The governor will display a Baltimore Colts flag for the week on his vehicle.Many Baltimore residents are still bitter about the Colts departure from Maryland in 1984.

4 Dead In Baltimore Fire. Four people died when fire ripped through a city rowhouse late Wednesday.The fire broke out on the second floor of a home in the 1600 block of East Oliver Street just after 11 p.m.While battling intense flames and smoke, crews made the gruesome finding.”We began to discover that we had multiple bodies throughout the house,” said Capt. Roman Clark.
