Slots Petition Heats Up

Help Wanted

CORRECTION: Rob Annicelli,  of  Stop Slots At Arundel Mills, sent an email advising that despite the vague wording in The Capital, his organization has had nothing to do with the hiring of Fieldworks, Inc.  Stop Slots At Arundel Mills has been offered space here to voice their positions and we hope they will take us up on the offer.

It should also be noted that when we called the number on the help wanted ad,  the woman answering the phone specifically said she was working for Fieldworks and that Fieldworks was “working for Laurel Park and the Stop Slots people.”

Today, The Capital reported that the two groups petitioning to overturn the slots initiative by referendum has hired a professional campaign organizer to secure the 19,000 signatures needed to put the petition on the ballot in November.

The organization, Fieldworks, Inc. of Chicago wasted no time and has placed help wanted ads in The Capital both on Sunday and Monday.

ACTIVISM Laurel, MD. Keep our malls family friendly! Make up to $14/hr. No Fundraising! Great political experience! Fun work environment. Make a difference in your community! Call Carl: 410-571-4971.

One has to wonder where all of these 19,000 people were when they were asked about the slots the first time around? Will we ever know how many of the petition signers did NOT vote in the 2008 election?
