Annapolis Alderman Guilty Of Fondling Midshipman
The Capital is reporting that outgoing Alderman Sam Shropshire was found guilty of second degree assault and a fourth degree sexual offense. The verdict comes after a one day trial in fron tof Circuit Court Paul F. Harris, Jr.
Shropshire was charged with groping a male midshipman in May 2009 after a night of drinking. The Alderman testified that he was reacting to perceived flirtations.
Shropshire’s term as alderman comes to a close on Monday. He mounted an unsuccessful campaign for the Mayor’s office and lost in the primary.
Sentencing is scheduled for February.
