MD Nets About $9.6M From Tax Amnesty. The comptroller’s office said Maryland’s tax amnesty program is netting an estimated $9.6 million. Joseph Shapiro, a spokesman for Comptroller Peter Franchot, said about 6,493 people have been accepted into the program and about 100 applications are still being reviewed.

Anne Arundel School Employees Get Furlough Day Back. Thousands of Anne Arundel County school employees who agreed over the summer to take time off without pay are getting one of those furlough days back.Almost four months after imposing furlough days on the county’s 10,000 school employees to trim $40 million from the budget, the school board voted to change its mind and restore one of those furlough days, district officials said.

Wine Merchants Want Freedom To Mail Bottles. An advocacy group that is trying to convince Maryland’s General Assembly to allow direct shipments by the state’s wine retailers has the support of local liquor store owners.

Coast Guard Suspends Search For Missing Kayaker. Coast Guard officials said they have suspended a search for a kayaker who reportedly went missing Tuesday about one mile southeast of the mouth of Oyster Creek in the Chesapeake Bay.
