In yet another astounding display of justice run amok, Circuit Court Judge, J. Michael Wachs has effectively reduced the potential sentence of a teen accused of killing Christopher Jones to a few years.

While prosecutors and the family of Christopher Jones argued that he should be tried as an adult (as he was charged) for the brutal attack (and subsequent death) of Christopher Jones last May, Judge Wachs said he felt it would be better to try him in juvenile court.

George has been held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center and was ordered to be transferred to a juvenile facility. As an adult, George cold have served up to ten years in prison. As a juvenile, he can not be held any longer than his 21st birthday–a birthday that Christopher Jones will never see.

This is yet another travesty of justice in Maryland. While Judge Wachs feels he is doing the right thing by allowing Javel George a shot at rehabilitation, the message is clear–there are very few consequences for serious crimes in Anne Arundel County, particularly if you are under 18.
