MD Lawmakers Lose Free EZ-Pass Perk. The Maryland Transportation Authority is being asked to terminate the legislative branch’s free E-ZPass program. House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Mike Miller asked officials to terminate the program that allowed scores of lawmakers to avoid paying for the electronic toll-collection service.Lawmakers would still be eligible to seek reimbursement for tolls.
MD Saturn Dealers Hope Line Can Be Saved. After General Motors announced it will shut down its Saturn division, many dealers in Maryland are hoping there might still be a chance that the line could be saved.
Neglected Dogs Rehabbed, Ready For Adoption. After living in terrible conditions, nearly a dozen dogs found abused in a Pasadena home have been adopted and two more are looking for new owners. According to Anne Arundel County officials, 21 dogs were found Aug. 28 living in terrible conditions in a Pasadena home. Three of them didn’t survive.
M&T Bank Lays Of 41 Employees. M&T Bank officials said the institution, which acquired failed Bradford bank in August, has laid off 41 Bradford employees. M&T also closed four of the failed bank’s branches. Philip Hosmer, a spokesman for M&T, said the job losses were positions for which equivalent jobs could not be found. Wednesday was the last day for those workers.
A foreclosure bus tour to be held Saturday morning in Howard County is giving prospective buyers a chance to see multiple homes to find good deals.Realtor Bob Lucido, who is hosting the event, said there’s never been a better time to buy a home, and because of the economy, the volume of foreclosed properties is high.
