The floor sags and the ceiling leaks; but there is pride in the old Marley Park firehouse.  The building was built 66 years ago by a group of concerned local homeowners. Keeping up on the maintenance has become a chore and a significant expense for the County.

Now, thanks to a grant from the Department of Homeland Security, the Marley Park station, which is staffed by 24 firefighters and medics will get a much needed $2 million face lift beginning in the spring of 1010. Construction is expected to last 15 months.

The new station will offer a better response time and improve the safety conditions for the firefighters who work in the building.  Additionally, the construction of the station will be very eco-friendly with bio-retention sediment controls and solar panels.

And lest we ever forget about the men and women who work in the fire service, check out this video produced by the firefighters and medics of Station 18.
