Anne Arundel Officer Fires Shots In PG Countypolice shooting

Last night at 615pm, an Anne Arundel County police officer attempted to stop Demetrius Kendall Thompson of Lothian for a traffic violation. Thompson was traveling on north on Route 4 and shortly stopped for the office just across the Anne Arundel County line in Prince Georges County.

As the officer approached the driver, a struggle ensued that injured the officer causing him to shoot Thompson. It is unclear as to what this struggle entailed.

The officer was treated and released at Anne Arundel Medical Center and Thompson was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Charges against the suspect are pending.

The investigation into the shooting will be conducted by the Prince Georges County Police Department.
