This is so absurd that they are not testing for H1N1! Who is going to protect our children! This boy was a friend of my nieces and it breaks my heart that Baltimore Washington Medical Center did not test or do a chest x-ray! How much time and money does it take to take a blood test! If it had been their child they would have insisted that he be tested. We as parents need to protect our children and demand that they are tested and that they receive immediate and proper medical care!

Oh and one other thing...the nurse in the ER I went to said that they were not testing for H1N1 there (my son was diagnosed earlier in Urgent Care). She said they were getting inundated with so many cases that they were just assuming they were all H1N1. So how reliable can these CDC statistics be when hospitals aren't even testing?

This really, REALLY pisses me off! When will these hospitals learn to take patients more seriously?!! I just went through a similar ordeal with my son (HIN1 and asthma) and had to demand bloodwork in the ER. When he still wasn't improving after his release I called his pediatrican's office and the doctor on call told me that a fever as high as 104 is "normal." I'm lucky that I have a nebulizer at home and he finally healed but obviously this is not a chance they should be taking with ANYONE. Just outrageous.
