Oh come on! The whole idea behind the city manager scheme is the cynical idea that all/any politicians cant be trusted - especially Annapolis mayors!

How about we drop the idea of "flip flop" and instead call this what this really is, trading endorsements for a political "quid pro quo".

Bitter Miss McFraud didnt get to be Mayor so now she wants to get even!

Cant get more cynical than that can you?

But the "big brains" here think this show political "wisdom".

Right.....

Lets help most Annapolis voters aren't so easily impressed by such low witted idiocy.

One of the goals of the city manager petition drive has always been to educate voters on the benefits of City manager. For many people this was a new concept. Any time you bring up something new, there is a natural resistance to change. However, in talking to literally 1000s of people over the past 8 months, once we outlined the pros and cons, the most frequent response was "this is a no-brainer." I believe Alderman Cordle is responding to the wishes of the citizens of Annapolis.

I don't think Mr. Cohen's example of flip flopping on the sidewalk tax is very compeling or particularly helpful to his fellow incumbent democrats running for City Council. According to The Capital (I paid $5 to check the archives) the only opposing vote to the legislation when it inially passed was Ms. Stankivic. The bill was repealed after Mr. Israel obtained an Attorney General opinion that the tax was illegal. Seems to me 7 of 8 Alderman, plus the Mayor, fip flopped and for good reason. It certainly is not unusual for elected officials to change positions on issues and is highly acceptable when that change is in response to constituent support. I believe 3500 citizens signing the petition in support of the City Manager legislation is certainly a strong message from constituents. In fact didn't Mr. Cohen just this week flip flop on the Priest Point zoning in reponse to constituent opposition. I respect elected officials who respond to the voters. I don't respect politicians who ask to represent the voters and then chose to move on to another office before fulfilling their commitment. Now that is flip flopping or is it job hopping?
