O’Malley Bracing For More Cuts. In the first two months of the current fiscal year, which began in July, the Board of Public Works already has approved $736 million in budget cuts.

Possible Swine Flu Cases Appear At MD Colleges. The University of Maryland is reporting that it has seen 256 students with flu-like symptoms since classes began, and Johns Hopkins University says it also has a few suspected cases.

Commission Takes Final Tour Of Arundel Slots Site. The slots commission took its final tour of the space slated for slots in Anne Arundel County on Wednesday, and while the group is optimistic the Arundel Mills Mall plan will go through, some community members are still pushing back.

Mom, Son Arrested On Animal Cruelty Charges. Anne Arundel County officials charged a Pasadena woman and her son with animal abuse and neglect. Janet and Jeffrey Taylor were arrested after Animal Control rescued 21 dogs from their home in the 7900 block of Sea Breeze Drive last month.
