Pierre’s Withdrawal

Comprehensive Coverage

Zina Pierre, withdraws from race for Mayor.
Zina Pierre, withdraws from race for Mayor.

Rather than re-hashing the press conference, below are some links to all the information you need to know. In a nutshell, she did not take any questions, she tried to explain much of the controversy–sometimes successfully. The ballroom at the Loews Annapolis Hotel was packed with media, supporters, politicos and clergy.  Her supporters were disappointed in the withdrawal and some felt that she was railroaded out of the position. She vowed to remain active in the community and that she woudl be back (future mayoral run?) after her house was in order.

The disappointing thing about this entire exercise is that the will of the people has been discharged. Now the democratic nominee is in the hands of the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee.

Speculation is that Trudy McFall wants the nomination, Josh Cohen is willing to consider it, and Sheila Finlayson may be the person that will go the furthest to appease the voters who feel violated.
