Pierre Offers Explanation, Withdraws
In a statement, Zina Pierre, the first African American elected to run for Mayor of Annapolis, withdrew from the race citing the distractions of the past week.
Now, the Democratic Central Committee will select a candidate to run in her place. Zina will need to officially submit her withdrawal by Friday September 25, 2009 and the DCC will have until October 2, 2009 to name a replacement.
Zina declined to answer any questions. Video of her statement will follow.
