Zina Pierre, withdraws from mayoral race in Annapolis
Zina Pierre, the Democratic candidate for Mayor who just won her party’s primary on Tuesday has withdrawn from the race. Earlier today, it was reported that she had a long list of legal issues including judgments, liens on file with the Maryland courts.
Apparently this now gives the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee carte blanche to nominate the person of their choosing despite the wishes of the voters. The following email from ADCC Chair Nick Berry was obtained by Eye On Annapolis.
Dear ADCC Members and Friends,
Zina has withdrawn her candidacy after the revelations of her legal problems. We in no way urged her to do so and left it to her judgment. We feel sad for her and all her supporters.
This puts a great deal of importance on the ADCC, that by city code is charged to name a successor by October 2. ADCC is under no City Charter/Code restraints in our choice and we then must establish the procedures for our choice.
We will have to meet shortly. Our meeting for September 23 is still on. Let me know if these dates are available to the elected members: Sept. 24, 25, 26, 28, and 29. In the meantime, consult with Democrats in your wards, our elected officials, and your own thoughts.

She is still running for Mayor. Check the AP. The alleged court issues are matter of fact and mostly resolved, no big deal. Please correct the record, do some homework and vote for Zina.
We have heard those rumors but all news sources say that she has withdrawn. If and as soon as we hear from her campaign, we will let you know.
