Two New Schools To Celebrate

Lake Shore and Freetown Elementary To Reopen

grand openingAccording to County School Spokesman Bob Mosier, students at Freetown and Lake Shore elementary schools will have something to be excited about: new classrooms, new computers, new gymnasiums, new cafetoriums** – the list goes on.

Freetown Elementary School will  celebrate the opening of their new school during an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, August 24. The ribbon cutting will begin promptly at 1:30 p.m., and the open house will run until 4:30 p.m. Students will have an opportunity to tour the building, meet their teachers, and see their new classrooms a day before classes begin. The $25.5 million facility is adjacent to the former school building and maintains the same address, 7904 Freetown Road. At 69,331 square feet, the building is nearly 20,000 square feet larger than its predecessor.

At Lake Shore, the celebration will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the school. The renovation and addition at Lake Shore cost $23.3 million. At 63,422 square feet, the students have more than 27,000 square feet of extra space in which to learn.

Both schools are equipped with video-linked security systems, climbing walls in the gymnasium, fully-equipped computer labs, and interactive white boards in every classroom.
