The Annapolis City Police Department sponsored a National Night Out kickoff with a Car Show and Police Demonstration on July 25, 2009 at the Wiley H. Bates Heritage Park.  Wheels from the Past and Bayside Mustangs (two local car enthusiast clubs) were instrumental in working with the police department to put this program together. There were close to a hundred cars from classics to street rods, to modern vehicles. Children enjoyed a hula hoop contest and a jump rope contest.

The highlight of the afternoon was a police demonstration of the K-9 team.  K-9 officers demonstrated the drug sniffing, attack, and search capabilities of two of their K-9 partners. A not to would be crooks…these dogs are good. Don’t be on the receiving end!
