It’s a good thing that the City of Annapolis is in such good financial shape. We wonder what it will look like when the new Mayor takes office in December.

The Arundel Muckraker has obtained a copy of the latest Federal suit against the city for racial discrimination, harassment, fostering a hostile work environment, sexual harassment and retaliation.

Ruby Blakeney laid out specific instances in her suit including

  • Mayoral Appointee Mike Miron approached her and other women asking if they wanted to see his “pussy”. (He was carrying a cat at the time)
  • Mayoral Appointee Mike Miron routinely commented that because of her race (presumably) she would not have been allowed in certain establishments in years past
  • Mayoral Boyfriend Dale Maddoix reached under her blouse and groped her while the Mayor watched
  • Mayoral Boyfriend Dale Maddox referred to her as “Aunt Jemima”
  • Mayor Moyer refused to address the issues and despite having been a witness, claims she did not believe Ms. Blakeney

Yes, life goes on in Annapolis. Please read all the sordid details in the document obtained by The Arundel Muckraker.

I don’t believe the city of Annapolis should pay a nickle for this! Mr Miron & Ms Blakeney can put on boxing gloves and duke it out. It is appalling and has been going on way too long. Mr Miron should of got the CAN years ago! Now, because it was handled poorly the Mayor and the boyfriend are involved? This is nonsense and Mr Miron should be fired before he costs the city another million!

    First MarketHouse and now disrespect!

There is always some truth to every story. This garbage would never happen in a private corporation! Why give a big job to a guy who worked at a gas station in Eastport? My understanding is he does not have an economic/urban development background. Ask him about the empty oil can trick.

Hmmm, too bad the mayor has chosen to not uphold basic civil rights. Civility is extremely important in city business offices and social conduct. I am surprised she puts up with such behaviour in or out of the public eye. She should at the very least condemn his actions in public with a member of the administration. He should publically apologize for his ill advised run off at the mouth actions and backward attitudes. But, that is just my opinion.
