Thank You Jeff Barlow

Barlow’s Gymnastics Shutters Doors

gymnastIt was front page news for The Capital yesterday, but it is still a sad situation. Barlow’s Gymnastics has closed their doors after 25 years of business.

From an economic standpoint, it made sense for Jeff Barlow to close. It also reinforces just how bad the economy really is in the area.  How many businesses have gone out of business in the last six months? Barlow’s….Circuit City…Boater’s World…Piccolo Roma…

From a personal standpoint, Barlow’s is a horrible loss for the County. While not gymnasts, my daughters all had participated in their programs over the years and I cannot begin to count the number of birthday parties attended at Barlow’s.

Jeff–many thanks for a great run and for all the entertainment you provided to the youth of our area. You will be missed!

From a succinct note on the main page of their website:

It is with great sadness that I tell you that  June 13, 2009 was the last day of operation for Barlow’s Gymnastics.  After 25 years, the gym is forced to close due to tough economic conditions.

Team members are scattering to other local gyms to continue their training.

This website will continue to operate until the subscription expires in October.  You will be able to access the scores from the 2009 meets until that time.  The blog will be updated sporadically when I have time and news until then.
