Anne Arundel County’s 19th Nutrition Site To Open In West River
The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will open a new senior nutrition site on July 10 at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River.
The West River Café Senior Nutrition Site will be open on Fridays to county senior citizens age 55 and up. The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a hot meal at lunchtime, games, activities and day trips. An informational table will be staffed by department personnel who will have materials on various department programs. Additional services for senior citizens are planned.
Anyone age 55 to 59 can have a hot meal for $4.22 (cost of the meal) while anyone age 60 and up can eat without charge, although a donation is requested. Reservations for the meal must be made the Tuesday before the Friday session. Call 410-222-4464, Ext. 3007 for reservations.
The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities Senior Nutrition Program will now operate 19 lunch and activity cafes throughout Anne Arundel County. The Senior Nutrition Program is designed to provide nutritious noon meals to the senior population in Anne Arundel County. While being served in a social setting, these meals are intended to maintain and to improve overall health of the participants. Funding is provided through federal and state grants and local funds.
