UPDATED: Pasadena Catholic School To Close

UPDATE: From Chesapeake Family Magazine, they have confirmed  with the Arch Diocese in Baltimore that the school will not be closing next year

St. Jane Frances To Close Next Year

janefrancesThe No BS Zone is reporting that St. Jane Frances School in Pasadena will be closing it’s doors after school closes this year. The No BS Zone is following up on the school that has been a fixture in the Rivera Beach community since 1948.

Of course this will cause quite a problem for the county Elementary and Middle schools with an influx of several hundred new students. It is especially troublesome since County Superintendent Kevin Maxwell has threatened to reduce staff and increase class size due to budget restrictions. With tuition at $4700, it is unlikely that many of these students wodul enroll in some of the area private schools where tuitions regularly exceed $15,000 per year.

Wow. Feel sorry for the kids and parents that have to scramble. Makes the situation worse for AA County in terms of class size and school over crowding. O’kay, ruling party of this great state (Dems) any more ideas besides more tax hikes to build more schools or update those schools (Folger McKinsey comes to mind) that are clearly too small to house the current student population?

In PA, the schools are a separate taxing authority and they are billed out at a different time of the year. Makes sense. The schools are not beholden to the whims of a county.

I don’t think Bud reported they are definately closing. He said Anne Arundel schools have been informed of the possility.

Evidentially, my posting prompted calls to the Archdiocese of Baltimore. To which, their Director of Communications Sean Caine responded “This information is NOT TRUE. St. Jane Frances de Chantal School is NOT CLOSING”. Of course, he cannot dispute my account that Anne Arundel County schools have received word about this possibility. Plus, it’s a hot topic in that closeluy knitted community. Like I said, I don’t know if it’ll happen for sure, but it’s definately been discussed.

The first thing the Archdiocese needs to do is remove the new principal. She refuses to answer emails or phone calls from parents, and she has her office staff so intimidated that they won’t talk to anyone for fear of reprisal. She’s just a bad fit for Pasadena. We’ve had children in St. Janes for 10 years, but we’ve had enough – we’re bailing!
