Anne Arundel County School Closed Until May 7
Fox News is reporting that 4 schools have been closed statewide in response to suspected cases of the H1N1 Virus.
Gov. Martin O’Malley said Friday that although Maryland still has no confirmed swine flu cases, new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control direct that schools with probable cases be closed for up to 14 days.
Earlier today, officials closed Rockville High School in Montgomery County after a disabled student became the ninth person in the state with the suspected virus.
The three other schools in the state were closed late this afternoon including Folger McKinsey Elementary School in Severna Park in Anne Arundel County. According to a school spokesperson, “Effective immediately, Folger McKinsey Elementary School will be closed for a minimum of 5 days. The earliest the school will reopen is Thursday, May 7.”
