Double Stabbing In Crofton

Anne Arundel Police DepartmentAnne Arundel Police are reporting a double stabbing in Crofton. A 49 year old female was stabbed in her sleep last night by Fernando Jorge Reis, 41, of Frederick who has a protective order against him and broke into her home early this morning.

The suspect stabbed the victim while she was sleeping and after several hours trying to calm him, she made an escape to a neighbor where she called police. The suspect apparently stabbed himself in the chest as well. It does not appear that any of the injuries are life threatening.  Reis is under police guard at the hospital and will be charged with First Degree Attempted Murder, Second Degree Attempted Murder, First Degree Burglary, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Violation of a Protective Order. For more details, please view the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s FaceBook page.

This brings up the question–what good is a protective order if it offers so little protection? There was another case (ironically enough) in Crofton where an order was violated.  There is no clear answer, but something needs to be done!
