Folger-McKinsey Student Being Tested

cdc_logoSix probable cases of the Swine Flu have been reported in Anne Arundel County, including two elementary school students from Folger McKinsey (Severna Park) and Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore County.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley says the samples have been sent to the Centers for Disease Control for possible confirmation.  O’Malley says he isn’t alarmed that swine flu could be in the state, saying it’s “inevitable.”

State health officials anticipate more probable cases – and confirmed cases – in the future. O’Malley says Maryland is prepared to handle more cases, and officials are monitoring the disease on an hourly basis.

Common sense and good hygeine will go a long way to preventing the spread of this disease. While there has been intense media speculation on the disease, it is probably best to err on the side of caution until more is known. Is this a case of Chicken LIttle? Or a real seriosu national health threat? Your thoughts?
