Annapolis’ Mayor Moyer Resigns

| April 1, 2009 at 11:37 am

annapoliscitylogorIn a shocking announcement from City Hall in Annapolis, the current Mayor of Annapolis, Ellen Moyer has decided to step down from her elected position. While the language is unclear regarding succession, it is widely anticipated that Acting City Administrator Bob Agee will take over the reins of government at a public announcement scheduled for an Emergency Council hearing scheduled for 5:00pm  this afternoon.

Acting City Attorney Stephen Kling is drawing up the succession papers this morning and will have them prepared for Council signatures by the Emergency Meeting scheduled for 5:00pm this afternoon.

Phone calls to the Mayor’s office were not immediately returned, but a source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, suggested that the move was made so the Mayor could accept a position as an Under Secretary in the Obama Administration–presumably in the Department of Agriculture or possibly Interior.

Let’s face it, even IF she had resigned today, she actually never served anyway so this would only be a technicality!

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to visit the ONE vendor still hanging on at the Market House, get mugged/raped/killed near our TOTALLY UNPOLICED housing projects, and stew in a traffic jam caused by Annapolis’ unregulated overdevelopment. Hopefully I won’t get hit by one of the thousands of illegal aliens that have taken over Parole.

    Thanks “Mayor” Moyer!!!

Look, Matt, Mayor Moyer may not be good, but certain things like the Market House and the lousy Annapolis Police Department can’t be directly attributed to her competency issues. We have a new governor who now has the state’s General Services Police patrolling our streets. The market house will hopefully be taken over by small business people who can rectify the crisis.

The housing projects, though, I don’t know too much about, but I don’t think its residents vote “Republican” too often (wink-wink).

We don’t really need to criticize the competence of Ellen Moyer as much as we need to criticize the electorate who voted her in.
