Maryland Lady Shooting Stars: Preparing for Battle

| March 25, 2009 | 0 Comments

md-lady-starsThe Maryland Lady Shooting Stars gear up this weekend to kickoff its 2009 Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) season at the Charm City Under Armour Shootout Tournament, March 27-29.  The Stars will feature five of its teams to include the two elite teams, 14U “gold” and the dynamic 15U “sophomores”.

Both have been heralded — the “gold” are the defending State champs and the “sophs” ranked third in D1 competition last year.   In addition, the Shooting Stars will spring its 13U, 14U “blue”, and juniors into action.  Early accounts seem to think that each team has the talent to be extremely competitive.

This could be daunting for the rest of the local AAU programs if these early assertions prove to be true.  In speaking with several of the coaches in the Stars’ camp, the culture within the organization is not only to be the best and most competitive AAU organization in Anne Arundel County, but the State of Maryland.  I can say one thing, it the Stars are able to replicate the success they had last year with their elite teams, they may be well on their way to achieving their goals.
